OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

CAMPOREES

A CAMPOREE is usually a weekend of fun, fellowship, and Scouting
activities shared by two or more troops camping together. Your patrol
can show its skill as you make camp and take part in camporee activities.
You can also share good times and fresh ideas with Scouts from other
troops. What are they cooking for meals? How do they set up their dining
fly? Can they show you how to lash together a signal tower or how to
paddle a canoe?
Perhaps your patrol will lay out an orienteering course that other
Scouts can use to test map-and-compass skills. A knot rack could help
everyone learn to handle rope, and an obstacle course can give you a real
workout. Camporee games might require that the members of your patrol
cooperate with each other in order to reach a goal. Some games can't be
won unless all the patrols pool their efforts and work as one big group.
Camporees can be great experiences. They are also a perfect way for a
patrol to get ready for summer camp.
