FINDING DIRECTIONS USING THE MOON
The moon comes up in the east and goes down in the west, as does the sun. The shadow-stick method described for use with the sun will work just as well on nights when the moon is bright enough to cast a shadow. "When you are acting as scout to find the way for a party you should man ahead of them and fix your whole attention on what you are doing, because you have to go by the very smallest signs, and if you gal talking and think- ing of other things you are very apt to miss them." -Baden-Powell, Scouting for Boys, 1917
