HEAT EMERGENCIES
IN HOTWEATBER, your body adjusts to keep you comfortable. Help it
do that by drinking plenty of fluids and resting in the shade when you
feel too warm. It might be wise to plan summenime work and play for
early morning and evening hours instead of the middle of the day when
the temperature is highest. Wear light-colored clothing and shade your
head with a hat.

it as an air conditioner running
wild. Heat exhaustion can affect
a person outdoors or in a hot
room. Symptoms can include

heavy sweating
• Nausea and fatigue
• Dizziness and fainting

HEAT EXHAUSTION
1. Have the victim lie in a cool,
shady place with his feet raised.
Remove excess clothing.
2. Cool the victim by applying
cool, wet cloths to his body and
by fanning him.
3. If he is fully alert, let him sip
from a glass of water into which
you've stirred a pinch of salt.
4. Recovery should be rapid. If
symptoms persist, call for
medical help.
