FIRST AID
WHAT IS FIRST AID?
FIRST AID is the first help given the victim of an accident or other health emergency. If more attention is needed, first aid treatment keeps an injured or ill person as safe as possible until trained medical personnel arrive. The first aid you learn while earning the Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class badges and the First Aid merit badge is a good introduction to basic ways of sizing up an emergency and providing treatment. In years to come, you might want to enroll in more advanced first aid courses taught by the Red Cross and by other safety and outdoors-related organizations. There is always more to learn, and keeping your skills sharp will require regular practice and review.
