CAMPING

Lakes and Streams
Bodies of water might be heavily used by wildlife. Pitch your tents at least two hundred feet (seventy-five steps) away from streams and lakes. That will allow the animals to reach the water and will reduce your impact on shorelines.

Alpine Areas
Winters in the high mountains are often long and harsh, leaving plants just a few warm months in which to grow. Camping on top of alpine veg- etation can cause it serious harm. Make your high mountain camps in established campsites, on bare ground, or on snowfields.
